Spring City Adventures

It was Heritage Days in Spring City...

{ Uh, Americana much? Also, the ranunculus was blooming. I was in heaven.}

So I took this boy with me...
{ Why is it that the people who protest the most to getting their pictures taken are the ones that the light loves the most?}

 And we looked at old cars...
 {There's something so nostalgic to that old leather and oil smell.}

 {Ohhhhh beautiful Bennion Bowls!}

And marveled at this old church...
 {Beautiful old LDS church from 1904. Could have driven your tin lizzy to hear the preacher. They don't make 'em like that anymore. }

  Enjoyed looking at all the old houses...

 {The one on the left is a B&B.}

{I love odd front door wreathes, don't you?}

 and chose our favorite-favorite.

 {Pioneer meets Provence?}

{All it needs is some chickens in the yard. Please tell the owners I'll be moving in next week. m'kay? thanks.}
Good light, good food, great company. It was a grand day out.

Look who came to visit!

{How do I have the prettiest friends?}

My former college roommate, and sweet friend, Lauren came to visit, and brought her sweet kiddo, Brooke! This lady, besides being model beautiful, is a phenomenal chef. You can check out her food blog here at Lauren's Latest

No really. You should stop by, and give my "Lolo" some blogging love. Especially if you like the sound of "Blue Cheese filled Bacon Wrapped Mushrooms"...or "Lemon Cheesecakes with Blueberry Compote"

{ The last time I saw this munchkin, she was four months old...which adds up to...me being a horrible friend! HA!}

 { Peony trees were in blossom }

 { Aww! How sweet is this? }

So, even though my schedule was crazy, with Nanny duties and running around like a psycho person, it was good to briefly catch up. Basically, it taught me that I'm just going to have to make a trip to Oregon--quick before the Food Network steals her away. Hey, DREAMS COME TRUE!

May flora/fauna

 {One of the best feelings in the world is being able to go grab fresh herbs from your own garden}

{ This is called happiness

{ Kale colors are so cool! Hopefully I can keep it alive long enough to enjoy it's alien-like pigments}

{No sissy violets for me please. THIS is my favorite flower OF. ALL. TIME.  Zinnias are huge, vibrant, happy, and can take a chomp from a grasshopper, or a mean frost. Life goal: be more like a Zinnia.}

 {That's for you, Mandy Jigs.}

If you haven't heard of Karine Polwart, please, PLEASE allow me to introduce you. She's got the voice of a Scottish angel, and is the authoress of the above lyrics.

So, daisy, daisy, sweet and crazy? How do your gardens grow?

Grandpa's back garden is a magical place

{It's true! I've spotted many an imp at the base of the old apple tree.}

{The lovely scent of lilacs is second only to new baby smell...}

 {This tree makes the best apple cider known to man.}

 {That bank of Lilies of the Valley will be up in no time!}

 {Some of us can't wait that long. The garden is a perfect place for an afternoon nap.}

{ It's May! It's May! It's MAY!}

A conversation with Maman...

{Profiles of my sister, and brother}

me: MOM! PROMISE me you won't do that short curly old woman do.

mum: Promise!

me: You may grow it long, and wear it in a bun

{Maman, wearing a summer fairy queen wreath}

mum: Okay....thank you

me: and let it out for grandchildren to comb through

mum: :)

me: Like Mrs. Piggy-wiggle

mum: and find....what in my hair as they comb through it? Sea glass?

me: Ohhhhhhhh!

mum: Presents?

me: Ha ha, both!

mum: That would be a great story.....hmmmmm.....

{ My mother's hand holding some delicious cookie creation & my baby book }
me: yes

mum: memories in the hair...

me: hmmmmm....

mum: picking them up and showing them to grandma, and she tells them a story...

me: "Oh yes, this was from..."

mum: a prom hair comb....

me: pins and combs and clips and
yes

mum: We thought the same thing!

me: That's because we're related. ;)

{ Je t'aime, Maman }

Let there be light!

{ Thanks to my friend Matt, who was my extra hand, now the house won't be so spooky!}

{ They even MATCH now!}
 {What a difference a couple months makes...}

 {SO glad It's May!}

" 'The time has come,' the Walrus said..." -- Self-betterment school

{"We say we waste time, but that is impossible. We waste ourselves.”-  Alice Bloch }

I'm declaring MAY to be my personal 'going back to school month". Yeah, I know, graduation was basically last week for lots of people, but I've been out of 'real' school for a while now. And I miss it. This has been a long time coming. Lots of discussions about motivation and time management and personal goals.

It's past time. I've made a plan. I'm turning off Hulu.

{All my favorite shows suck now, anyway. Ha ha!}

I used to READ! I used to DO stuff! *sigh*...I'm so much more mobile in the warm months. Cannot wait to go hiking, biking and camping.

If I pretend like it's a class, if I actually schedule my life. Make to-do lists with time limits, I may actually start hacking away at that "I-want-to-do-that-someday" list.
  So many projects to get done! So many classes to teach! So much good life to live! Woohoo!

I've decided to get a degree in moi.  Welcome to your life, Kaje. It's going to be awesome.
And cheap! Heh heh...
COURSE WORK:
Intermediate Yoga Courses (namaste Yoga DVDs pretty much rock my world)
{This is me, in high school *yipes!* sketching at a chateau in France & a happy box of canvases.}

Art courses--my art projects, commissions.

Music Courses -- Hooray for roommates that can teach guitar! Also I'm making goals to work with piano twice a week, and pick up some drumming beats.

{My life is colorful!}

Gardening Classes
Literature Classes

{When I was 14, I read this book cover to cover...time to go back and have a refresher course!}

{One of my many amazing birthday presents this year...}

I love annotating. I LOVE it. But I don't know if I can do it in these lovely volumes.

May, is going to be rich, and full.
